Language Access Plan

The State Board of Landscape Architecture was established to protect the Health, Safety and Welfare of the public through licensure of those that are “Actively engaged” to practice or provide the professional services of landscape architecture. (see NRS623A.020)

The Board developed and reviewed the Language Access Plan at the First and Second Quarterly Meetings of 2024.  The following plan was finalized at the August 23, 2024, Quarterly Meeting.

The following is a Language Access Plan developed to complying with NRS 232.0081 to ensure meaningful access to State services and programs for individuals with limited English proficiency.  The plan provides protocols for employees of the Board to follow when providing services to or interacting with persons with limited English proficiency.

To those clients with limited English proficiency (LEP) the board staff will provide services that are meaningful and timely for access to the Board’s services and programs.

The following steps are to be taken to mitigate any language impediments:

  2. Inform constituent of available language services.
  3. Track constituent data in customer relationship management (CRM) program.
    1. This program is used for those seeking licensure in the State of Nevada.
    2. The program is used for those seeking information on licensees and/or licensure in the State of Nevada.
  4.  Once the client’s language needs and preferred language are identified the following procedures should be followed to (a) interact appropriately with LEP clients, (b) inform clients of the availability of language services, (c) determine clients' preferred languages, and (d) record and track LEP client language preferences so that the data will follow them through their interactions with the Board of Landscape Architecture staff.
  5. Once this assessment is completed staff of the Board of Landscape Architecture will contact the State Purchasing Department to provide the appropriate oral, written and/or sign language services necessary.
